Long-term detox programs encourage participants to eat a wide variety of fresh fruits and vegetables instead of excessive carbs. Some programs also help you to eliminate unhealthy items from your diet such as refined sugars, trans fats, and food preservatives.

Cons

Some detox programs like the ones that make weight loss promises are not ideal for everyone. An individual with pre-existing health conditions who is on medication or a pregnant woman would not be advised to go on a detox diet that involves days of fasting.  In some cases, detox programs that promise weight loss benefits are only short lived as the participant may gain back the weight they lost. However you decide to detox, remember to seek the advice of your medical practitioner before you get started.
