#1 Write Them Down & Be Specific
If you are serious about your fitness resolutions, you should write them down on a piece of paper and place that piece of paper somewhere where you will be able to see it every day. This will serve as a constant reminder of your goal.
In addition, you should be as specific as possible. It’s easy to lose sight of your goals if they are not clearly defined. For example, rather than writing down “lose weight,” it would be much better to write down “lose 30 pounds by the end of April.” This makes your goal much more clear and can help you track your progress better.
#2 Be Realistic
If you set goals which are impossibly difficult to achieve, you will most likely end up giving up on them rather quickly. Think about where you’d like to be fitness-wise by the end of the year and make realistic New Year’s resolutions that will help you get to that year-end goal.
#3 Break Them Up
Three small goals will seem a lot more manageable to many people than one giant goal. You may want to consider setting several smaller New Year’s resolutions which seem much less overwhelming. For example, rather than saying “I want to work out 40 hours a month” you might find it much easier to say “I want to work out 2 hours a day, 5 days a week.”
